Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi recently visited Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore to oversee the ongoing upgrade work in preparation for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy. According to reports, approximately 50% of the renovation has been completed, setting a solid pace for the anticipated finish.
During the inspection, Naqvi focused on the advancements in the enclosure renovations and flooring of the main building, with flooring work close to completion. He also held a meeting at the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) camp office to discuss project designs and updates. Naqvi reviewed presentations by the FWO Project Director, assessing the current progress and refining upcoming objectives for a successful completion timeline.
Enhancing the Gaddafi Stadium Experience for International Events
Chairman Naqvi issued directives for spacious parking areas and enhancements to the stadium’s exterior to uplift its appeal. He highlighted that the goal is to transform Gaddafi Stadium into a world-class venue, aligning it with international standards to accommodate both players and fans comfortably. These upgrades aim to improve the stadium’s aesthetics and functionality, creating a state-of-the-art experience for visitors and boosting Pakistan’s image on the global cricket stage.
In addition to FWO representatives, key PCB figures attended the meeting, including the director of infrastructure, director of domestic, and senior general managers. The collaborative efforts between PCB, FWO, and NESPAK underscore the commitment to ensuring Gaddafi Stadium stands ready to welcome players and fans from around the world.
