Keith Urban Stays Silent on Nicole Kidman Split While Filming CBS Series ‘The Road’

“He was all business professional,” says contestant as singer navigates heartbreak with grace

Keith Urban is letting his work do the talking amid his highly publicized split from Nicole Kidman.

According to Daily Mail, the 57-year-old country music superstar remained completely composed and professional while filming his new CBS reality series, The Road, even as his marriage quietly came to an end.

The series — which follows 12 aspiring country singers touring across Texas, Oklahoma, and Tennessee as they compete for a major prize — was filmed between February and April 2025, during the same period Urban and Kidman’s relationship was reportedly unraveling.

“You Wouldn’t Even Know He Was Going Through Anything”

Contestant Billie Jo Jones, one of the rising artists featured on the show, revealed that Urban never allowed personal struggles to affect his demeanor or leadership.

“You wouldn’t even know he was going through anything,” Jones said.
“He definitely pushed personal stuff aside and was all business professional the entire time — which is what a true artist should be doing.”

Jones described working alongside the Somebody Like You hitmaker as “a dream come true,” calling him an inspiring and encouraging mentor.

“He’s one of those people who really pushes you to be your best self,” she added.

A Quiet Divorce, A Composed Demeanor

On September 30, Nicole Kidman officially filed for divorce after reports surfaced that the couple — married for nearly 19 years — had been living apart for several months.

Despite the emotional turbulence, Urban maintained a calm, focused presence on set, channeling his energy into mentoring young musicians.

The Road premiered on October 19, marking his first major television project since the breakup.

Hints of Heartache in His Music

In the debut episode, Urban briefly touched on the emotional realities of life as a touring artist — comments fans interpreted as subtle reflections of his own heartbreak.

“You wake up sick and lonely on a tour bus and still have to perform,” he said.
“The only answer to why you do it is because it’s what you’re born to do.”

Viewers also speculated that his emotional performance of Straight Line during the premiere might have been a quiet nod to his personal life.

Urban shares two daughters with Kidman — Sunday Rose (17) and Faith Margaret (14) — and has previously spoken about how being away from family can take an emotional toll.

“It’s Hard, But It’s Worth It”

Contestant Billie Jo Jones said she could relate to Urban’s comments, describing her own experience as a touring artist who spends months away from family.

“It’s hard, but it’s worth it,” she said. “God didn’t give me this voice to keep it at home. He gave it to share with others.”

As The Road gains traction with audiences, Urban’s professionalism amid personal challenges is being widely praised — reinforcing his reputation as one of country music’s most grounded and resilient stars.
