Dubai Media Launches Dubai+ Streaming Platform to Showcase Local and Global Content
Dubai Media Incorporated has officially launched Dubai+, a new digital streaming platform designed to deliver a wide range of local, Arab, and international entertainment under one unified service. The initiative has been introduced under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council.
The announcement was made during a press conference held in Dubai on January 30, marking a significant step in the emirate’s evolving digital media landscape. With Dubai+ , DMI aims to strengthen Dubai’s position as a regional media hub while responding to changing viewer preferences in the age of on-demand content.
Dubai+ enters the market with an extensive and diverse content library. The platform offers more than 20 exclusive series, alongside six original productions developed specifically for its audience. These titles are expected to reflect regional culture while adopting modern storytelling techniques that appeal to both local and international viewers.
In addition to original programming, Dubai+ features a large selection of international entertainment. Subscribers will have access to over 170 international movies spanning multiple genres, providing variety for audiences with different tastes. This mix of regional and global content positions the platform as a comprehensive entertainment destination.
Live television is another key component of the Dubai+ experience. The platform includes live TV channels as well as sports coverage, with broadcasts of 12 live championships. This ensures that viewers can follow major sporting events in real time while also enjoying on-demand entertainment.
A strong emphasis has been placed on family-friendly viewing. Dubai+ incorporates content controls and classification systems designed to create a safe and suitable environment for all age groups. These features allow families to manage viewing preferences with confidence, aligning with cultural values and parental expectations.
Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council, described the platform as a strategic move in line with Dubai’s broader media vision. She noted that Dubai+ supports the emirate’s long-term strategy by encouraging private-sector participation and fostering innovation in digital storytelling.
According to Al Marri, the platform reflects Dubai’s ambition to lead in advanced media production while offering opportunities for local talent and production houses. By creating space for original content, Dubai+ aims to contribute to the growth of the regional creative economy.
The launch of Dubai+ also highlights a shift in how government-backed media institutions are adapting to global streaming trends. Rather than relying solely on traditional broadcasting, Dubai Media is embracing digital platforms to meet audiences where they are increasingly spending their time.
As competition in the streaming market continues to intensify, Dubai+ positions itself with a clear identity focused on quality, cultural relevance, and accessibility. Its blend of exclusive series, original productions, international films, live TV, and sports coverage offers a balanced proposition for viewers in the UAE and beyond.
With its official launch, Dubai+ represents a new chapter for Dubai Media Incorporated and signals the emirate’s commitment to shaping the future of media through innovation, inclusivity, and forward-looking content strategies.
