NADRA Warns Public Against Fake ID Card Tracking Website Targeting Pakistanis
The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has issued a strong public warning after detecting a fraudulent website impersonating its official services and attempting to deceive citizens.
According to the authority, the fake website — idcardtracking.online — is falsely claiming to offer ID card verification and tracking services, potentially putting both local and overseas Pakistanis at serious risk of data theft and financial fraud.
In its advisory, NADRA clarified that it has no affiliation with the website and urged citizens to avoid sharing any personal information on platforms that are not part of its verified digital ecosystem. The authority stressed that users should only rely on official NADRA websites and mobile applications for services related to CNIC issuance, verification, or tracking.
The alert comes amid a rise in digital scams that target vulnerable citizens seeking government services online. NADRA highlighted that scammers often exploit public trust by creating websites with similar names, layouts, and service claims to deceive users into entering sensitive data such as CNIC numbers, family details, and contact information.
Officials noted that many overseas Pakistanis had also come across the fraudulent website, which raises concerns about the global reach of these scams. Given the high reliance on online portals for CNIC renewal and tracking, especially among expatriates, NADRA emphasised the importance of vigilance.
The authority reiterated that its official platforms include nadra.gov.pk, the Pak-ID portal, and the Pak Identity mobile app. These channels use secure encryption and government-backed verification protocols, providing citizens with safe access to ID-related services.
NADRA also urged users to report fake websites, suspicious links, or fraudulent social media pages to its helpline or cybercrime authorities. The warning forms part of a broader effort to address the increasing number of phishing scams, identity theft attempts, and unauthorized data collection schemes targeting Pakistani citizens.
Cybersecurity specialists have long cautioned that fake government websites pose a high risk, as individuals unknowingly provide sensitive details that can be misused for criminal purposes, including financial fraud, illegal SIM issuance, and identity manipulation.
The authority assured the public that it continues to monitor digital threats and is working with relevant agencies to curb the spread of fraudulent platforms. Citizens were reminded to stay cautious, cross-check URLs, and never trust third-party websites claiming to offer NADRA services.
