PM Shehbaz Sharif Advocates for Meta’s Uninterrupted Operations in Pakistan

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken a proactive stance to ensure the smooth operation of Meta in Pakistan, calling for the immediate resolution of any outstanding issues. This directive was made during a meeting with a Meta delegation, led by Simon Milner, Vice President for Asia Pacific, which explored opportunities for collaboration in Pakistan’s IT and digital media sectors.

The meeting included key figures such as Shaza Fatima, Jahanzeb Khan, and Tania Odros, among other senior government officials. The Prime Minister expressed his optimism about the future of Pakistan’s digital sector, highlighting that a record budget has been allocated for IT development—a first in the country’s history.

During the discussions, Prime Minister Sharif underscored the critical role that information technology and artificial intelligence could play in driving national progress. He emphasized the importance of resolving any operational challenges that Meta may encounter in Pakistan, ensuring that the partnership between Meta and the country remains strong and beneficial.

The Meta delegation briefed the Prime Minister on the company’s activities in Pakistan and the broader Asia Pacific region. They highlighted Pakistan’s role in hosting the first AI competition in the region, showcasing the country’s growing capabilities in the digital arena.

Both the Pakistani government and Meta expressed a shared commitment to advancing digital media and AI initiatives.
