Universities Begin Laptop Distribution Under PM Youth Program
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has announced that laptop distribution under the Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme is now fully underway across universities.
In a statement issued to selected students, the HEC confirmed that laptops have been delivered to their respective institutions. Eligible recipients have been instructed to visit their universities, submit the required documentation to the designated focal person, and collect their devices.
The initiative is part of the broader Prime Minister’s Youth Program aimed at promoting digital access and supporting academic research and learning. Officials said the scheme seeks to empower students by enhancing their technological capabilities and improving access to online educational resources.
University administrations have been directed to ensure transparent distribution procedures and verify the credentials of shortlisted candidates before handing over the laptops. Students are advised to carry original identification documents and any other paperwork specified by their institutions.
The laptop scheme has long been viewed as a key step toward bridging the digital divide in higher education, particularly benefiting students from underprivileged backgrounds.
