Xiaomi Regains Global Wearables Crown After Five Years, Surpassing Apple and Huawei

Xiaomi has reclaimed its position as the world’s largest wearable maker, according to recent data from Omdia. The milestone comes as global wearable shipments exceeded 200 million units in 2025, marking a 6% increase from the previous year.

Xiaomi captured 18% of total shipments, narrowly edging out Apple at 17% and Huawei at 16%. The margin between the top three brands was less than one percentage point, underscoring the intense competition in the wearables market.

Samsung followed with a 9% market share, while Garmin held 5%, reflecting steady demand for specialized fitness and GPS devices.

Industry analysts attribute Xiaomi’s return to the top to a combination of competitive pricing, innovative product design, and aggressive expansion in international markets. Its wearable lineup, including smartwatches and fitness trackers, has appealed to both budget-conscious and tech-savvy consumers worldwide.

The growth in global shipments highlights the rising popularity of wearable technology, driven by increasing health awareness, fitness tracking needs, and integration with smartphones and other connected devices. Analysts note that annual shipment growth has been consistent, reflecting strong consumer demand despite supply chain challenges.

Xiaomi’s achievement also signals a broader trend of diversification among tech companies. While Apple continues to dominate premium wearables, Xiaomi and Huawei have expanded accessibility through mid-range and budget-friendly models, widening adoption across emerging markets.

The close competition between top brands suggests that the global wearables market will remain highly contested in the coming years, with incremental innovations and pricing strategies likely to influence market leadership.
