JazzWorld and VEON Leadership Engage Government to Accelerate Pakistan’s Digital Economy Growth
Senior leadership from JazzWorld and VEON held high-level discussions with key government officials in Islamabad, reaffirming their long-term commitment to Pakistan’s digital transformation and economic growth.
The delegation, led by JazzWorld CEO Aamir Ibrahim and VEON Group CEO Kaan Terzioglu, met with Federal Minister for Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb and Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja to discuss strategies for advancing Pakistan’s digital economy.
During the meeting with the finance minister, both sides focused on Pakistan’s improving macroeconomic outlook and its transition from economic stabilization toward sustainable growth. The leadership emphasized the critical role of integrated digital platforms in driving financial inclusion, formalizing economic activity, and enabling investment-led expansion.

VEON leadership expressed strong confidence in Pakistan’s future, citing over $11 billion invested in digital infrastructure over the past three decades. They also highlighted contributions exceeding PKR 500 billion to the national exchequer in the last ten years, underscoring their continued role as a key stakeholder in the country’s economic landscape.
JazzWorld’s growing digital ecosystem was also a central point of discussion. With more than 100 million users, the platform spans connectivity, fintech services through JazzCash and Mobilink Bank, and a wide range of digital offerings that support everyday financial and communication needs.
A significant development highlighted during the discussions was the recent acquisition of additional telecom spectrum worth over $239 million. This expansion is expected to enhance network capacity, improve service quality, and enable the gradual rollout of next-generation technologies, including 5G, while continuing to strengthen 4G coverage nationwide.
In a separate meeting with the IT minister, both sides acknowledged progress under Pakistan’s Digital Pakistan agenda, particularly in terms of IT export growth and successful spectrum auctions. However, they stressed the need for continued collaboration between the public and private sectors to expand broadband access and bridge the digital divide.
The leadership also pointed out that a large segment of Pakistan’s population still lacks meaningful access to broadband services. Addressing this gap remains essential for unlocking the full potential of the digital economy, particularly in areas such as education, financial inclusion, and entrepreneurship.
Looking ahead, JazzWorld and VEON outlined plans to invest $1 billion over the next three years. The investment will focus on expanding connectivity, modernizing infrastructure, and scaling digital platforms, reinforcing their commitment to enabling a more inclusive and technology-driven economy.
The engagement signals a shared vision between the government and private sector to accelerate Pakistan’s digital transformation, positioning the country for long-term, innovation-led growth.
