Italian luxury automaker Ferrari has officially unveiled its first fully electric vehicle, named “Luce,” marking a major milestone in the brand’s transition toward clean-energy mobility.
The new model, whose name means “Light” in Italian, represents Ferrari’s entry into the fully electric performance segment after decades of dominance in high-performance combustion engine sports cars. The company’s move places it alongside rivals such as Porsche and Lamborghini, who have also been expanding into electric vehicle offerings.
According to the company’s announcement, the Ferrari Luce delivers impressive performance figures, including a top speed exceeding 310 kilometres per hour and a driving range of more than 530 kilometres on a single charge.
The vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour in just 2.5 seconds, powered by a 122 kWh battery pack. Despite its advanced electric architecture, the Luce weighs approximately 2.26 tonnes, making it the heaviest model ever produced by Ferrari.
The design also marks a shift in Ferrari’s traditional lineup. The Luce is only the second four-door model in the company’s history and the first-ever five-seater, signaling a broader expansion beyond its iconic two-seat sports cars.
Ferrari chairman John Elkann described the launch as a historic moment, stating that the company is “inaugurating a chapter that turns our vision into reality,” while reinforcing Ferrari’s legacy of shaping the future of automotive performance.
The launch comes at a time when the global automotive industry is experiencing mixed momentum in the electric vehicle transition. Several luxury brands have slowed their EV rollout plans due to weaker-than-expected demand and shifting market conditions.
Ferrari itself has adjusted its long-term expectations, previously stating that electric models were projected to make up around 20 percent of its lineup by 2030, down from an earlier target of 40 percent.
Despite this recalibration, the introduction of the Luce signals Ferrari’s commitment to balancing tradition with innovation, while gradually adapting to the global shift toward electrification.
Industry analysts believe the move could strengthen Ferrari’s positioning in the evolving luxury EV market, where performance, exclusivity, and brand identity remain key competitive factors.
