Google has expanded its flagship smartphone lineup with the launch of the Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL, introducing several major hardware and software upgrades designed to strengthen the company’s position in the premium smartphone market.
The new Pixel 11 Pro series brings a combination of advanced camera capabilities, brighter high-refresh-rate displays, Google’s latest Tensor G6 processor and new notification hardware called HiLight.
One of the most notable features is the upgraded camera system, which supports up to 120x Pro Zoom. The high level of zoom is aimed at users who want to capture distant subjects while retaining greater flexibility when taking photos.
Google is also introducing a rear HiLight notification system. The feature adds a dedicated notification element to the back of the phone, giving users another way to receive visual alerts without relying entirely on the main display.
Both smartphones are powered by Google’s Tensor G6 chip, the company’s latest-generation processor for its flagship Pixel devices. The new chipset is expected to support improvements across performance, photography, artificial intelligence and power management.
Artificial intelligence remains a major focus of the Pixel 11 Pro lineup. Google has integrated Gemini Intelligence into the phones, expanding the role of AI across the smartphone experience and providing users with access to Google’s Gemini-powered features.
The Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL also feature brighter 120Hz displays. The high refresh rate is designed to provide smoother scrolling, animations and supported gaming, while increased brightness can improve visibility when using the phones outdoors.
The two models share the same core hardware and camera system, making the choice between them primarily dependent on size and battery preferences.
The Pixel 11 Pro XL offers a larger display and battery, while the standard Pixel 11 Pro provides a more compact option for users who do not need the additional screen space and battery capacity.
This approach allows Google to target different premium smartphone buyers without creating significant differences in camera or processing capabilities between the two models.
The camera upgrades are particularly important as smartphone manufacturers continue to compete on computational photography and long-range imaging. Google’s Pixel series has traditionally placed strong emphasis on software-assisted photography, and the 120x Pro Zoom capability adds another headline feature to its latest flagship generation.
The introduction of HiLight also gives the Pixel 11 Pro series a distinctive hardware feature. Rear notification systems remain relatively uncommon among mainstream flagship smartphones, potentially helping Google differentiate the new devices from competing premium models.
