Meta to Train 1,000 Pakistani Businesses in AI and Digital Skills Under New Initiative

Pakistan has invited Meta to expand its partnership in digital skills development, artificial intelligence (AI), and small business growth as the country continues efforts to strengthen its digital economy. The collaboration aims to help businesses adopt modern technologies and improve their online presence in an increasingly digital marketplace.

The development was discussed during a meeting between Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan and a Meta delegation led by Asia-Pacific Public Policy representative Tehara Punchihewa and Policy Programs Manager Vivian Liang.

During the meeting, Meta introduced its Small Business Growth Academy, an initiative designed to provide free training to 1,000 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across Pakistan. The program will run from August to November 2026 and focus on helping businesses develop digital capabilities, use artificial intelligence tools, and improve their marketing strategies.

The training program will be implemented through Meta’s local partner AtomCamp, which will assist in delivering educational sessions for participating businesses. The initiative is expected to support entrepreneurs by providing practical knowledge about Meta’s digital platforms, AI-powered solutions, and online growth techniques.

The government believes that strengthening digital skills among SMEs can play an important role in expanding Pakistan’s business ecosystem. Small and medium-sized enterprises represent a significant part of the economy, and helping them adopt digital tools can improve productivity, customer engagement, and access to wider markets.

During the meeting, officials highlighted the importance of collaboration with global technology companies to accelerate Pakistan’s digital transformation. The government has been encouraging partnerships that support technology adoption, entrepreneurship, and innovation across different sectors.

Meta’s training initiative will focus on helping businesses understand how to effectively use digital platforms for brand promotion, customer communication, and online sales. Participants will also learn about artificial intelligence applications that can assist businesses in improving efficiency, analyzing customer behavior, and developing better marketing strategies.

The expansion of AI and digital skills is becoming increasingly important as businesses worldwide adopt technology-driven solutions. Pakistani SMEs that gain expertise in these areas could benefit from new opportunities in e-commerce, digital services, and international markets.

Officials also discussed the potential for further cooperation between Pakistan and Meta in areas related to technology, commerce, and entrepreneurship. The government aims to create an environment where businesses can benefit from global digital innovations while contributing to economic growth.

Technology experts believe that initiatives focused on digital training can help bridge the skills gap among small businesses and enable entrepreneurs to compete more effectively. Access to AI tools and digital marketing knowledge can allow SMEs to reduce operational challenges and reach customers beyond traditional markets.

The Meta Small Business Growth Academy is expected to provide participating businesses with practical skills that can support long-term growth. By combining government support with private-sector expertise, the initiative represents a step toward building a more digitally capable business community in Pakistan.

As Pakistan continues its digital economy agenda, partnerships with global technology companies are likely to play a key role in developing workforce skills, supporting entrepreneurship, and encouraging innovation across the country.
