Pakistan Is Getting Another New Energy Vehicle Assembly Plant
In a major step toward the electrification of Pakistan’s auto industry, Capital Smart Motors (CSM) has announced the launch of its New Energy Vehicle (NEV) manufacturing and assembly operations in the country.
The company confirmed that it is establishing one of Pakistan’s first NEV CKD (Completely Knocked Down) production plants, signaling growing investor confidence in the nation’s emerging clean mobility sector.
According to Capital Smart Motors, the facility will focus on assembling and locally manufacturing electric and hybrid vehicles, aligning with Pakistan’s ongoing shift toward sustainable transportation and reduced carbon emissions.
Local EV production on the rise
This development marks another milestone for Pakistan’s auto market, which has seen a steady increase in foreign partnerships and local assembly projects in recent years.
Industry analysts say that localized NEV production could help lower electric vehicle prices in Pakistan while creating jobs, developing technical expertise, and boosting industrial capacity.
The government’s Auto Industry Development and Export Policy (AIDEP) 2021–26 has played a crucial role in attracting investments from both local and international firms, offering tax incentives and reduced duties on EV parts and equipment.
A step toward energy transition
With global automakers rapidly transitioning to clean energy platforms, the establishment of a new NEV assembly plant further strengthens Pakistan’s position in the regional EV market.
Capital Smart Motors aims to cater to both domestic demand and export potential, supporting Pakistan’s broader green mobility and energy transition goals under its Vision 2030 agenda.
Experts believe the launch of this plant could pave the way for more private-public collaborations in EV infrastructure, including battery production, charging networks, and smart vehicle technology integration.
As Pakistan continues to embrace electric mobility, the new CSM facility underscores the country’s growing role in the global clean energy movement—and its ambition to reduce dependence on imported fuel-based vehicles.
