Ufone Enters Pakistan’s 5G Era with Largest Spectrum Portfolio Post Telenor Integration

Pak Telecom Mobile Limited (PTML), operating as Ufone, has officially stepped into Pakistan’s 5G landscape with a dominant share of the 3500 MHz frequency band, a globally recognized benchmark for next-generation connectivity. Subject to regulatory approvals, the planned merger of Telenor Pakistan into Ufone, forming MergeCo, will make the combined entity the largest spectrum holder in the country’s telecom sector.

MergeCo is set to hold a diversified spectrum portfolio of 292.4 MHz, surpassing its nearest competitor by 8 MHz across low, mid, and high-frequency bands. This strategic positioning allows the company to offer premium digital services to both individual and enterprise customers.

Ufone’s aggressive 5G spectrum acquisition strategy includes securing the largest share of the 3500 MHz band alongside an additional 60 MHz in the 2600 MHz band. This ensures blazing-fast data speeds and a consistently superior user experience nationwide. The company’s contiguous 120 MHz spectrum enables wider 5G channels, supporting higher peak speeds, more stable data throughput, and the capacity to serve a larger number of simultaneous users, particularly in high-demand urban areas.

The integration with Telenor Pakistan will enhance MergeCo’s capability to deliver cutting-edge digital experiences. Customers can expect seamless ultra-high-definition streaming, cloud gaming, augmented and virtual reality applications, and accelerated access to a wide range of digital platforms.

MergeCo also aims to provide comprehensive nationwide coverage. With 44.8 MHz of spectrum in low-frequency bands such as 850 MHz and 900 MHz, the company is well-positioned to extend reliable internet services to rural and semi-urban regions. Leveraging its extensive telecom footprint, MergeCo will enhance 4G services and ensure consistent connectivity and quality for all users across Pakistan.

Commenting on this milestone, Hatem Bamatraf, President & CEO of PTCL & Ufone, said, “PTML now controls the largest share of the global standard 3.5 GHz spectrum, giving us the ability to set the benchmark for speed and performance in Pakistan. Post-Telenor integration, we will become the largest spectrum holder in the market, enabling faster speeds, broader coverage, and digital experiences that truly matter to our customers. Our goal has always been to build a network that empowers individuals, businesses, and communities across the country, and today we are closer than ever to making that a reality.”

With unmatched spectrum assets and an expansive nationwide network, MergeCo is poised to deliver a seamless, inclusive, and high-quality 5G experience while continuing Ufone’s legacy as a proudly Pakistani brand committed to connecting and empowering communities.
